Officer Charlene Fraser of the Clayton County Police said Sean C. Putnam, 23, of Peru, was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 285 West at Interstate 75 near exit 58 at approximately 8:30 p.m. Putnam, who was listed as an active-duty Army officer, had exited his vehicle after pulling over to help a woman whose car had broken down when he was struck by another vehicle, which caused a chain reaction accident involving six vehicles, according to Fraser.
