"Rest" is directed by Davis McCallum, whose work on Hunter's play "A Bright New Boise" earned him a Drama Desk Nomination. Featuring a stellar cast, the play tells the story of a few residents and employees of a rest home in Idaho on the eve of the facility's closing, snowed in and facing a terrible tragedy. The resulting interactions ask questions of generational tension, mental illness, religion and the meaning of love.
"Presenting this phenomenal play is a wonderful way to end the series. A commission for the award winning South Coast Rep in California," says Artistic Director Dina Janis.
The New Play Series reading of "Rest" by Samuel D. Hunter starts at 7 p.m. at the Dorset Playhouse, 104 Cheney Road. For tickets call the box office at (802) 867 2223 or online at dorsettheatrefestival.org.
