STOWE -- The Burr and Burton Academy snowboarding team won its fifth straight state crown on Friday, using a 1-2-3 finish in the slopestyle event to win the title.

The Bulldogs scored a total of 85 points between three events -- halfpipe, giant slalom and slopestyle -- and beat South Burlington by 32 points. Four ahead of the Rebels going into the slopestyle event, BBA's Jake Gaudet was the winner, followed by Elliot Buckley and Sam Eisenhaur.

Rebels were fourth and fifth, but it wasn't enough to take the title away from the Bulldogs.

No BBA boarders were in the top five in the halfpipe, but Will Helmetag finished runner-up by 0.01 seconds in the giant slalom behind Woodstock's Alex Sheppard. Arlington's Freddie Pickering was third.

The BBA girls also won the championship, taking the title away from defending champ Rutland. The girls used a dominant performance throughout en route to a score of 19, well ahead of Black River's 46 and North Country's 70.

BBA swept the half-pipe, going 1-2-3 with Caroline Kepler winning, Kiersten Lima second and Katy Jones third. In the giant slalom, BBA went 2-3, with Kepler and Cali Wadsworth close behind winner Olivia Clement from Woodstock.

Then in the slopestyle, BBA swept again, with Lima, Kepler and Gabi Hasaj leading the way.
