For a few more weeks, runners and walkers can register at a huge discount, for many less than their fee for last year's race.
The race - which will be celebrating its 35 anniversary - benefits over 20 local nonprofit groups, from the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts to local fire departments, from the Collaborative and Manchester's Special Olympians to Vermont Reading Partners, as well as many others.
Those who do not wish to run the half marathon may compete in the 5K, which is 3.1 miles. Another option is for groups of four or more to join forces for the Jay Hathaway Memorial Team Challenge.
Businesses are encouraged to sponsor their employee teams. This year's Maple Leaf will be held at the Dana Thompson Recreation Center in Manchester on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 8 a.m. For more information visit www.manchestervtmapleleaf.com or call the Manchester Chamber of Commerce at 1-800-362-4144.
Participation will be limited to 1,000 runners and walkers and there will not be registration on race day.
