MANCHESTER - The Garden Arts Fresh Market has announced the First Annual Farmers and Food Producers Celebration of Food Gardens for Children - a benefit for the education of children and their parents on growing foods for the home table.

On Saturday, Nov. 10, the Fresh Market on Depot Street will recognize its opening as the region's newest, most innovative marketplace for the sale of local farm-to-table foods with a lively event running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fresh Market vendors will offer food sampling and cooking demonstrations. There will be how-to displays on home farming, backyard poultry care, bread and jam making, pickling, and other healthful home food production arts. There will be a petting zoo with small farm animals present to charm children of all ages.

There will be a 10 cent per gallon discount offered on gasoline sales at the full service pumps in front of the market.
