DANBY - A Danby women is being charged with domestic assault after pushing another woman to the ground.

According to a press release from the Vermont State Police, State Police in Rutland were dispatched to an assault complaint on Brook Road in Danby on Sept. 5.

When Troopers arrived on scene, they found the accused, Amy S. Clayton, had left the scene in the victims vehicle. The victim was still in the residence and told the investigating troopers that Clayton had been consuming alcohol during the evening, and when she attempted to leave in the vehicle, the victim attempted to stop her by taking the vehicle's keys. The victim told the troopers that Clayton was attempting to leave with three young children and she feared for their safety due to Clayton's level of intoxication. The victim said when she tried to take the keys, Clayton threw her to the ground.

Troopers were unable to locate Clayton that evening. However, Clayton was located on Sept. 6 and lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Center in lieu of $10,000 bail.
