Russell Smith, 65, of Jamaica, called to report the theft of his trio of bear hunting dogs. He said that the previous day, Sept.5, he had let the dogs out to track. He said that they had caught a scent. He advised that about ten minutes later the dogs disappeared from the GPS screen. He advised that just prior to the dogs disappearing there was interference detected on the GPS unit from other signals. The dogs were last identified as being together on the roadway before the GPS signals stopped.
The three dogs are described as Plott Hounds. One is brindle with a white spot on the ear and chest. One is brown and white with brindle. The last is brown with tan around the mouth and on the chest. They all have Garmin GPS collars on which most likley were turned off to prevent the signal from being detected. Additional witnesses have helped to get a better description of the vehicle seen in the area when the dogs were stolen. The vehicle is now described as an older two-tone Chevy truck with a Green dog box in the back.
