TOWNSHEND - State police are reporting at at 54 year-old West Townshend man was taken into custody Tuesday following an incident Tuesday where gun shots were alllegedly fired.

At approximately 4:20 p.m. the Vermont State Police Brattleboro Barracks received a 911 call regarding an intoxicated armed male shooting off rounds outside his residence on Peggys Lane. Members from the Vermont State Police and the Windham County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene immediately. The suspect, later identified as Roger Decato, age 54 of West Townshend, was threatening violence towards a neighbor, according to the state police.

Decato continued to fire rounds outside of his residence. After a short period of time, members of the Vermont State Police were able to make contact with Decato and safely take him into custody. No one was injured during the incident.

Decato was arrested and processed at the Brattleboro Barracks. He is scheduled to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on Sept. 4 to answer to the charges of Disorderly Conduct, Reckless Endangerment and Possession of Marijuana. Decato was lodged at the Southern Correctional Center in Springfield where he was ordered to be held until sober.
