This week it is all about the sidewalks.Travelers got their first look at one of the town's new improvements late last week.The dyed-stamped red concrete was installed at the bridge.This week, the sidewalks on the eastern side of Main Street will be finished from the Mountain Goat to Thai Basil.

Work will start on the western sidewalk section from the entrance to Green Mountain Shopping Center to Epoch 18. The final leg of the Main Street sidewalk from the Lighting Place to the First Baptist Church should be completed in the next few weeks when FairPoint finishes its work at the corner. Additional sidewalk construction will be completed by the town in front of the Rite Aid.

The sewer crossing at the Junction is ongoing. The required trench depth and the amount of rock makes progress slow said Kevin Ture, project manager for Schultz Construction.To accommodate the excavation, traffic from 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. is being diverted at Center Hill, Cottage and Wyman Streets. A detour for trucks driving north on 7A is in place at Union Street.

Crews working Sunday through Thursday evenings will be finishing drainage work on Bonnet and Main Street this week; the installation of the sewer line under the the river and and Hand Motors continues along with testing of the temporary water line at the bridge.

In utility news, CVPS/Green Mountain Power will will be dropping their lines across Main Street late this week. For FairPoint work will focus on Main and
