MANCHESTER - Crews will be wrapping up sewer, drainage and water service work this week on Main Street while turning their attention to deep sewer work on Depot Street and drainage projects on Bonnet Street. With that accomplished, additional efforts will turn to the grading for curbs and removal of sidewalks beginning on the east side of Main. Work will be underway on the light pole bases at the bridge railing and DLC Electric will be installing underground conduits for the new lighting along Main Street.

To facilitate the work, a night detour will be continued Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. - 7 a.m. In the early evening hours, there will be one-way traffic on Main Street. The detour and recommended travel routes for the detour will be well marked with signage and flaggers at key locations. Progress was delayed this week due to violent storms passing through the area this past week. Paving was cancelled for Thursday, July 26, on the north end of Main Street. As of press time, the work is expected to be underway on Sunday, July 29.

Utility work at the junction by FairPoint this week includes placing fiber and cables across the bridge from the sidewalk manholes at the First Baptist Church and at the Gap Monday through Wednesday. There is minimum traffic disruption but sidewalks in the respective areas will be obstructed. Beginning Sunday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m., FairPoint will be splicing these cables and fibers around the clock until completed. Work
