WESTON - On Sunday, June 10, students from area elementary schools and their families participated in a day of activities and playhouse performances that was the culmination of Weston Playhouse Theatre Company's Early Stages program.

This unique program gives Elementary school students the opportunity to work directly with professional artists and experience for themselves the joy of theatrical performance.

More specifically, the program aims to help participating students develop their own artistic voice through their performance of scenes from the current season's Young Company production.

This year, WPTC brought teaching artist Tesha Buss to Weston to work with students from four local elementary schools: Flood Brook Elementary in Londonderry, Chester/Andover Elementary, Cavendish Elementary, and Grafton Elementary. The students worked with Buss to present three performances of their own featuring an assortment of skits and songs from "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."

Participating students were also given a ticket to the Young Company production of Charlie Brown, so that they can be further exposed to the inspirational potential of theatre.

As an added attraction, Weston's Young Company performed scenes from their upcoming production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."

The 2012 program was administered by the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company and made possible by support from the Green Mountain Festival Series and the Philip S. Harper Foundation.
