DANBY - A local man was arrested and held at the Marble Valley correctional Center for lack of $5,000 bail Monday, following an alleged assault on a girlfriend.

According to the Vermont State Police, Jeffrey Hall of Danby was cited on charges of unlawful mischief, domestic assault and interference with access to emergency services stemming a dispute with an unidentified woman at a residence on Michaels Lane in Danby.

While state police responded to the residence, the alleged victim reported that Hall was damaging her residence with an axe. While on 911, the victim reported that Hall had also assaulted her.

According to the police report, the alledged victim reported that Hall had damaged her house and broke two of her telephones while she was making a 911 call. She also said that Hall pulled her hair which caused pain. In further discussion, the victim also reported an assault that occurred the prior evening at the residence in which Hall kicked her back and knocked her to the floor.

Hall did not deny the arguments of which occurred however stated that he did not assault his girlfriend, police said.

Police determined that Jeffrey Hall committed two counts of domestic assault against his girlfriend. In addition, he committed unlawful mischief when he damaged her property and interfered the victim with access to emergency services. Jeffrey Hall was subsequently placed under arrest and lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Center for lack of $5,000 bail,
