John was born in Bennington on June 1, 1957, the son of Malcolm and Ruth (Davenport) Clough.
He attended Dorset schools and graduated from Burr and Burton Academy in 1975.
John worked in construction throughout his life.
He worked for Gassette Construction, Ted Hopkins, Doanes Construction, and presently for Tony Ciufo Inc. He was a true Vermonter who loved being outdoors, especially hunting and snowmobiling. He also worked to help tag bears for the United States Forest Service. John loved to work with his hands, especially woodworking.
Most of his leisure time was spent working with his Farmall tractor and bulldozer on his property.
He leaves his daughter Ashley Davis-Clough of Londonderry and her boyfriend Andy Kibling, his brothers, Hiland Clough of South Londonderry and Donald Clough of Arlington, his sisters, Mildred Dunn of Manchester Center and Dorothy Thompson of Arlington, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate John's life was held Sunday, March 4, at 4 p.m. at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert in Dorset. Burial will take place in Glebe View Cemetery at a later date.
