MANCHESTER CENTER — As part of its annual Indie Film Blitz Month, The Village Picture Shows Cinema will screen, "The Crimson Mask" on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. With a reputation for being one of the foremost independent cinemas in the southern Vermont/eastern upstate New York region, The Village Picture Show is owned and operated by Shelly Gibson, a television/film actress with a substantial list of career credits.
Gibson is a disciple and advocate of independent, alternative films: "As a working actress, I understand the value that independent film productions bring to our industry, not only as a source of economic development and employment, but for an unusual, diverse perspective on the arts and entertainment," Shelly explains. "Many times, independent films get precluded or are not given an appropriate venue because the economics of these presentations are not sustainable."

In its three month history, "The Crimson Mask", has already won 10 awards from various independent film festivals. In addition to The Village Picture Shows Cinema, this film is being screened in about fifteen upcoming film festivals and related venues including: The Disneyland IndieFest USA Festival, The Player's Club in New York City, and the Kansas International Film Festival.
It is about a broken-down ex-prize-fighter and a Wall Street exec down on his luck and career. They come together under strange circumstances, amidst the movie's twists and turns, with a lesson learned.
The stars of the film, Robert Clohessy and Chrishell Stause, will attend the screening of this film, and speak at a panel at the film's conclusion, joined by the writer-director-producer, Elias Plagianos.
Robert Clohessy, is currently starring at the Westport, Conn. Country Playhouse in, "That Championship Season." This past winter, he co-starred on Broadway with Stockard Channing in the revival of, "Pal Joey." He is a regular cast member of the new HBO series produced/directed by Martin Scorsese, "Boardwalk" due to debut this fall. He is best known for his role as a regular cast member on, "Oz" (HBO), now seen in re-runs.
Chrishell Stause, has been one of the stars of, "All My Children" for the past three years, the classic ABC Television Network daytime drama.
Elias Plagianos shot, "The Crimson Mask" (his first artistic effort) on a $200,000 budget over a period of six weeks, throughout the boroughs of: Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan in New York City. He is an excellent example of the emerging generation of entrepreneurial filmmakers being able to take advantage of the latest, innovative digital HD technology.
This 85 minute film is being considered for distribution by several major studios.
