SALEM, N.Y. - Gardenworks will open for its 22nd season on April 5 with two days of fresh spring tastes and treats. Patrons may sample local cheeses, artisan breads, dips and salsas made in and around Washington County, as well as a tempting assortment of baked goods, fruit pies, coffee cakes and cookies. Hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The Gardenworks barn will be filled with new spring accents from the home, including candles, hanging baskets, wreaths, fragrant natural soaps and lotions, and a full line of gardening gear. Gardenworks greenhouses will be open for informal tours. The greenhouses will be stocked with spring pansies and other annuals as well as a huge assortment of perennials.

The farm has become an outlet for locally grown meats, produce and cheeses and locally made products. Gardenworks provides recipes featuring seasonal foods to help make the most of Washington County's local bounty.

"There's nothing like a tour of a greenhouse after a long winter," said Meg Southerland of Gardenworks. "We hope everyone will stop by to see what's in store for this year's growing season."

Opening Weekend at Gardenworks takes place on Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 6, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Regular hours are Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
