Aquilino has been a "foodie" from back when "foodie" wasn't even a term. Before her three and a half year stint at the Winhall Market, Aquilino and her late husband ran Bondville's River Cafe for 18 years.
Terasa Williams was the head chef at Winhall the entire time Aquilino was there, and long-time store manager, Lisa "Lisa B" Bauch, had been a fixture at the Winhall store for many years.
The trio has revamped the Bromley Market and its menu, added a catering menu, and now offer Boar's Head meats, cheeses and sandwiches in the deli, prepared foods (they recently picked up the Best Mouthwatering Crowd Pleaser prize for their Stuffed Shells with Vegetables and Mascarpone Cheese in a basil pesto sauce at the Stratton Foundation's "Taste of Vermont" competition) homemade soups, home baked goods, Mocha Joe's coffee, a wine room and a full complement of Vermont specialty items like artisanal cheeses and maple syrup. Limited seating is available, and BBQ fans will be happy to note that the Bromley Market's famous smoker is still on the scene, as is their legendary pulled pork and brisket.
The Bromley Market is located just east of Bromley Mountain, at 3776 Vermont Route 11, in Peru. Winter hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday through Thursday, and 9 p.m. on Fridays.
