DORSET -The Dorset Public Library will welcome artists Dave and Patty Herzfeld as their featured artists for the month of February. Their combined show will open with a reception on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are welcome to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. All works will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the library.

Dave Herzfeld has been combining his skills as a fine artist/woodworker for more than 20 years. His business is energized by a constant freshness fueled by a rare diversity in art. Never dwelling in complacency, but eagerly diving into original concepts and deign, Dave's goal is to stay original and avoid the expected.

"I always strive for quality and not quantity," he said. "I never wanted to compete against kitchen cabinet-making giants or China. In the art world I never wanted to be someone else. I have always encouraged other emerging artists to stay true to form and develop their own signature. It's what sets you apart. It is what becomes desirable and collectible."

His show at the Dorset Library will present a new body of work in oils, inspired by nature and featuring "Backyard Birds." Dave's furniture has been featured in countless publications and is the recipient of several awards. His art work has been nationally licensed for years and he has been a repeat soloist at the Southern Vermont Art Center.

He shows at the Gallery on the Green in Woodstock, Vt. His awards include an Honor Award from the USDA.
