In its ninth annual Basement Music Series appearance, The Prescription provides the best dance music from Big Band Swing to Motown, jazz to rock-&-roll, accompanied by its brassy, sassy horn section, The Side Effects.
"We all need to get out of the house and get moving," says musician Kerry Ryer-Parke. "The VAE is our absolute favorite place to play - the hometown crowd gets more fun every year."
Matthew Perry, VAE's director, says, "VAE is happy to open the season with such great, local talent. There's nothing like a good dance party to start the winter concert series."
The Prescription, so named because several of its members work in the medical field, remind concert goers that dancing is a great cardiovascular exercise that builds bones and fends off dementia and depression. So call up your friends, dig out those dancing shoes and get your tickets. The band features Ryer-Parke on bass, keyboards and lead vocals; Peter King, lead guitar, vocals and keyboards; drummer Rowen Caplan; Mike Vecellio, keyboards, bass, guitar, vocals; Shanti Mayer, keyboards, percussion, vocals; trumpeter Tom Bergeron; Ed Kostek, trombone, percussion, mandolin; Rick Tutunjian, tenor sax, percussion, vocals; and Dave
