According to the Vermont state Police, David Mears, of Arlington, had an active order against trespass against him stemming from a previous retail theft at the store. On Sept.9, 2012 an employee at Paulins Store in Arlington called police stating that Mears had entered the store.
When police arrived on scene they were unable to locate Mears. Mears had no known address at that time but police were told he frequents Arlington. An investigation led police to Bridal Path Road in Arlington where it was reported Mears may have been staying.
On Oct. 4, at approximately 11 a.m., police located Mears at that residence. Mears was taken into custody for Unlawful Trespass. During processing at the Shaftsbury Barracks Mears became extremely uncooperative. Mears was transported to Marble Valley Correctional facility in Rutland for lack of $1,000 bail. Mears is to appear in Bennington County District Court on Oct.5 to answer the charge, according to the police.
