BENNINGTON — Friday, Sept. 2, as part of First Fridays, Vermont Arts Exchange is proud to bring you "Pathway of the Blues", a tribute to Rick Burgess featuring Blues Sanctuary and the Legato Blues Band. Doors at the Masonic Hall at 504 Main Street open at 7 p.m, and the show begins at 8 p.m.
This special concert is dedicated and honors the life of a well-loved man, Rick Burgess. Rick was lead vocalist and guitar player of Blues Sanctuary, which is a 2014 Blues Hall Of Fame Inductee, and winners of the Northeast Blues Society's 2008 "Colossal Contender" performance competition. Up until Rick's death two years ago, Blues Sanctuary had been wowing audiences with their infectious Chicago style blues in a few different incarnations since 2002. The group features Bruce Mariani on bass, and vocals, Joe Candal keyboards and vocals, Ken Pallman, drums, and vocals, and John O'Rourke on guitar...all masters of their craft!
Joining Blues Sanctuary for the evening is the Legato Blues Band, powered by guitarist and past Blues Sanctuary bandmate, John O'Rourke. There have been many iconic guitarists over the years. Many have their musical roots in the blues, but developed their own voice as musicians and composers, taking their blues roots in other directions. Legato Blues Band performs compositions by these artists. The likes of Joe Bonamassa, Clapton, Hendrix, Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, and others. The performance collection will consist of 'old school' blues tunes performed in a contemporary fashion, along with original compositions of the covered artists. Legato Blues Band is represented by the solid bass lines of J.T.
Tickets for this event are only available at the door, $15 for adults and $8 for students. Thyme Tables Catering will bring the cash bar and Bringing You Vermont will have munchies on hand to purchase.
