MANCHESTER >> One of the most awaited concerts of the season will take place Thursday, Aug. 11 when the Manchester Music Festival Orchestra, conducted by Ariel Rudiakov, returns to the stage for the sixth concert in MMF's 2016 concert series.
The evening, titled Voices Together: An Orchestral Experience, will feature works by Mozart, Barber and Beethoven and a special appearance by the Manchester Community Chorus directed by Linda Hueckel. The featured soloist is virtuoso violinist Stefan Milenkovich who will perform Samuel Barber's "Violin Concerto 1938," a composition noted for its complexity, drama and haunting melodies.
The chorus will perform "Sancta Maria Dei K," written by Mozart at the age of 21, and "Ave Verum Corpus K," a composition that was written at the end of his life. The evening will conclude with an orchestral performance of Beethoven's "Symphony No. 4 in B-Flat Major, Op. 60."
"This will be a special evening that brings together the very best in vocal and orchestral composition," said Rudiakov, the Festival's artistic director. "We look forward to sharing the evening with you."
Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. at the Southern Vermont Art Center's Arkell Pavilion in Manchester.
Tickets are $52 for adults and $18 for students and may be purchased online at mmfvt.com, at the box office or by calling the MMF office at 802 362-2956.
The concert is sponsored by Susan Hunter and Douglas Watson. Mr. Milenkovich's appearance is made possible by a gift from Mary and Walter Miller.
