DORSET >> Summertime is beginning with a flourish at 3 Pears Gallery on the Dorset Green. The opening of a new exhibit on Saturday, June 25, from 1 – 4 p.m., launches the season with an exciting infusion of new and decidedly different artists, along with new works by the gallery's signed artists.
"We're defining and amplifying the dynamic character of our gallery," says owner Greg DeLuca.
Ukrainian-born Yana Movchan's luxuriant oil painting, "The Wealth of Nature," is a star of the show and a sensual banquet. At first, it appears to be a meticulous and masterfully rendered formal still-life replete with pineapples, grapes, lilies, hydrangeas, strawberries, but the exuberance of the colors, the playfulness of scale and the inclusion of unconventional characters propels it to another realm.
The gallery adds another facet in the work of Dorset jeweler Jay Harris. Jay's award-winning designs of diamonds and gemstones set in precious metals have been worn on the red carpets of the Oscars and Emmys, and his one-of-a-kind jewelry will delight generations to come. Alongside Jay's contemporary pieces, the versatile Bohemian-chic style of Simone Hughes (beke Jewelry), with her contrasting metals, sparkling gems, and suedes, continues to charm.
Together with large plein air pastorals are abstract impressions of the Vermont landscape, inspired by mood, emotion, and reflection. Ken Rush's landscapes are charged with a vibrancy, and each seems to contain a mystery.
"I'm hoping that when people come here, they'll get a visceral sense of the quintessential Vermont," says DeLuca. "They'll find the unconventional and the traditional they'll find something unexpected, appealing, and more than a little bit different."
