Last weekend marked the end of the Little League Baseball World Series, where Japan defeated a plucky Hawaii team, 4-1, to take home the title. It was once again an exciting event to watch, as you got to see 12 year olds kids enjoying themselves and some very exciting baseball.

MANCHESTER - The Manchester Tritons Swim Team competed in the Vermont Swim Association 2010 Championships on Aug. 7 and 8. The Tritons took fourth place in Division III and got some strong individual results.

DORSET - On Saturday, Sept. 25, Long Trail School will once again be host to the Middle School Fall Classic Soccer Invitational Tournament.
Eight area schools will compete with 16 teams taking the field. Arlington, Dorset, Maple Street, West Rutland, Flood Brook, Manchester Elementary and Middle School and Sacred Heart will all have boys and girls teams competing in the tournament.

Roger Clemens is in BIG trouble. On Thursday, Aug. 19, a federal grand jury indicted Clemens for lying to Congress in testimony he gave in 2008. The former All-Star pitcher was indicted on six counts including obstruction of justice, perjury, and making false statements. This all stems out of testimony before a Congressional Committee on steroid use during his playing days. Clemens continues to deny that he ever used steroids, but Congress is calling him out and saying that he lied.

MANCHESTER - The Southern Vermont Storm welcomed the undefeated New Hampshire Wolfpack to Applejack Field on Saturday night to face their toughest test of the early season. The Storm were able to contain the league's toughest offense, but struggled to score and fell to the Wolfpack 19-7.
